Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon boat festival also called Duan wujie in Chinese. Along with the Chinese new yea, Qingming Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important traditional festival to Chinese people. There are many legends about Dragon boat Festival but the most famous one is about QuYuanm apatriotic poet from the states of Chu more than two thousand years agaon. QuYuan is said to have been loyal and patriotic in his whole life. when he realized the deadline of Chu was beyond recovery and he could no longer save it. on the 5th day of teh Fifth lunar month.  he threw himself into teh river and died for his beloved homeland. Locals live a adjacent to the river rushed into their boats to search for him. they threw Jiaoshu which called zongzi or rice dumplings today. and the food into teh river to keep fish and turtles from devouring quYuan' boday. Later to commemortate this patriotic, the customers of holding dragon boat race, throwing jiao shu into the river and eating Zongzi at home. on the 5th day of Fifth month were passed down. And giving rise to the name--Dagon Boat Festival.
